hex mantis shrimp
create a colour inventory for __________ . (given animal)
The concept behind this piece relies on two facts:
a) the mantis shrimp has 13 more photoreceptor pigments than humans.
each colour on the hex mantis shrimp poster correlates to one of the approximately 200 hexadecimal codes which
appear on the poster. our inability to perceive these number and letter combinations as colours
mimics the relation between how advanced the mantis shrimps' eyes are to ours.
b) the eyes of mantis shrimps have cells that can detect cancer.
the single flipped sheet of code serves to represent cancer, genetically mutated dna code.
